Sufficient precipitation in adequate quantities and at the right times is necessary for a good yield. An average precipitation of approx. 1000 mm/year, as predominates in the Tettnang area, is enough as it generally shows a significant summer maximum. As a rule, cool, rainy summers rather than hot, dry summers promote a better yield, aroma and bitters value.
